Allegiant Look Back

Looking back at Allegiant's service so far, I feel that it has certainly been a success. The airline has begun the hopeful rejuvenation of our near empty hilltop airport.

The only flaw has been the fogged in and diverted flights. The solution to this problem would be the Cat 1 ILS radar system. I feel that with MORE airline service this would be a good investment from the federal and/or state governments.

Allegiant has brought back passengers and commercial airline service to ORH. So far Allegiant has brought:

~ 80-90% average load factors on most flights (around 20,000 passengers per year).

~ Reliability to a great vacation leisure destination.

~ Service to the top destination (Orlando) in Worcester's primary trade area.

~ Rejuvenation of our empty airport.

Good News

The public leak that the city is in active talks with Hooters Air is great news. Hooters would serve the city well with it's vacation-style service.

The airport simply cannot stay with one small airline forever. Allegiant is great, but Hooters or another airline/s is/are needed in order to guarantee success for ORH. I have been calling for Hooters Air since the beginning of the blog, and I hope they do in fact come to Worcester.

For those of you who are supporters of the airport drop Hooters Air an e-mail praising the airport and their airline. Public support is needed for any airline service to succeed, and Hooters needs to know that the region is behind them.
